re: gender specific dress

Quoting KathrynPeep:" For a girl, it's normal to wear boy clothes   I think every little girl goes through that phase. I sure ... [snip!] ... gets in the habit of wearing girls clothes I'd rather him make that decision in his teens. Just my opinion, no one flame me ;)"

Wow. So why is it okay for a girl to behave "like a boy" but not okay for a boy to behave "like a girl"? Double standard much? Is there something wrong with being female?

My son does not really care about picking clothes out at all lol, but if he does he picks "boy" clothes out. He's never went to a girls shirt and said he wanted it. lol.
Would I buy my son a dress? No.

It's my daughter's choice to wear pink, lace and frills.

She wears Spiderman pj's, that's about it.

My son wears shorts, jeans and t'shirts but I would imagine if I had a girl she would wear similar clothes.

My son is dressed in boys clothes, that's what we buy him. He's almost 3 and has never asked for anything in particular other than a set of Angry Birds pj's last week, which were boys.

We don't really have much in the way of lacy or frilly anyway. Most of our clothes are "girls" clothes, but they all wear them, boy included.

If he wanted to wear a dress, fine. I don't believe in putting them in a box.

If girls can wear "boys" clothes, then boys can wear "girls" clothes too. Let's not have a double standard here.

My kids wear clothes, lol.
People keep randomly just giving us huge amounts of clothes. I don't care what it looks like, if it fits, they wear it.

My Son is 6 and to be honest has only recently started taking an interest in picking his own clothing, up until then I picked out all his clothes and yes it is all typical boys stuff. He does pick very boys things now he is showing an interest. If he started picking out dresses and skirts and frilly things at this age of course I would absolutely redirect him and explain those are girls clothes and inappropriate for him to wear. I have no issue if it transpires my Son is gay, I have no issue of he is a straight male who likes to dress up in womens clothing occasionally/regularly and I have no issue if he is even transsexual and goes for the full operation when he is older because he is my child and I love him no matter his sexual orientation or gender BUT I think at 6 years old he is not capable of understanding these particular choices so no at his age he would not be allowed to pick out a skirt/dress, etc.
