Just formula at 5 months is what we did. It's not recommended to give your baby food until 6 months at the very earliest.

My LO started solid at 5 months. She eats 1 jar a day around 5pm for dinner my doctor wants me to start giving it to her twice a day but I declined. My plan was wait until at least 6 months but she was not gaining weight on breast milk alone, so we decided to introduce small amounts of high fat solids to see if it made a difference and it did! She still gets the breast on demand all through the day/night as well.

DS is 4.5 months old and drinks 6 oz of formula every 3-4 hours during the day and eats 2 jars of baby food over the course of 4 times during the day. The only reason he is on baby food though is because he has a severe milk protien allergy and the food is easier on his stomach than even the special formula is and the solids were started under the guidance of his pediatrician.

My daughter is 4 months old and she's been on baby cereal for a month now due to her acid reflux and her doctor recommended it. It has done wonders. She keeps down her food now with barley any spit up.

My LO eats 7 oz of formula every 4 hours from around 6 am until she goes to bed at 8pm. She sleeps through the night. She usually has 1 jar of baby food a day, sometimes I skip days because it doesn't need to be her main food source.

Well I am not sure of the exact ounces but that time limit sounds normal to me.
