And my mom lives in FL, and I live in SD. So I have to fit everything. But I would feel wrong doing that. I mean I guess I always pictured leaving after a big fight or something.

Not actually "hit" me but has gotten a little rough with me. Like a few weeks ago I was joking with him and apparently did something he didn't like so he smashed my face into his chest and held me there.

Pack up while he is at work and just leave. Just start driving and don't look back, don't turn around. Call him after you are far enough away that he can't follow you.

I agree at least try to get help and if he refuses then leave.

I would just find somewhere to hide things you need and money then leave when hes working. Why let it get to the point to a fight, Things may get out of hand, Be in control of it
