Painful contractions and sex... help!

Ladies, I've got a bit of a problem, and I'm hoping yall can help me. Yesterday SO and I were doing the deed, and I had to stop because I started having REALLY painful contractions. I had about 6 of them in 10 minutes. I just stayed where I was and just relaxed, and they eventually stopped. I'm 36 weeks. Should SO and I stop having sex for a bit? Even if I was term or full term, we're still not quite ready for this wee one to come out, lol. I haven't noticed any bleeding or spotting.

I never experienced anything like this with my other two pregnancies, I wasn't allowed to have sex with either of them, so this is all new territory for me. TIA ladies!

It's normal for the uterus to contract during sex. but it usually won't hurt anything unless our body is ready to start labor. If its uncomfortable obviously ounshouldnt suffer in pain though.

It's normal I believe. But if you're that concerned then don't do it again until after you are 37 weeks or just ask your doctor if it's ok. I don't think it won't start labor unless your body was ready though.

Contractions started right after we had just finished... when I went to shower to wash up, my plug had come out, I went and layed down just to time them and I was having contractions, they took me to hosp where they tried to stop them twice...

Needless to say 26 hours after having sex and 2 failed attemps to stop labor, I had the baby at exactly 36 weeks  
She was 5lbs 10ozs 17 n half in long... besides being small she was ok, we went home *together* after 2 days in hosp

My oldest daughter was 36 weeks as well, and was discharged before I was. I had SUPER high blood pressure that wouldn't come down, but she was perfect. Glad your wee one was ok.  

I usually have contractions with sex, I know that part is normal. The uterus always contracts, the only time you feel it is during pregnancy.   But I've never had painful contractions with sex before, hence the concern. We decided to hold off on the sex at least until we have everything ready for her.

Every pregnancy is different. My BH contractions with my first were never uncomfortable, I never felt pressure down low, round ligament pain, etc. With this one I get the BH's more often and they are slightly uncomfortable/painful, I feel more pressure, my RL pain is a bitch, and I get sciatic pain more often. Remember that with each subsequent pregnancy you feel more of what's going on with your body.
