IMO you have done a lot of research on sites with creationist agendas and haven't done the fact checking to back it up.

I posted this a while ago but my first paragraph didn't show up:

Right here, a Catholic biologist (Ken Miller) explains a bit about how chromosomes have changed over the years. He did another presentation where he goes through exactly what you are talking about but I will have to find it later.

What you're talking about is a very slim minority of "intelligent design" creationists, those who accept common descent. ID begins by rejecting natural selection on principle and the original doctrine also rejects common descent. Do not be fooled by ID's propaganda, they do no more science than any other kind of creationism. Like any other form of creationism, ID is 1% teleological argument and 99% arguments against evolution. There is no such thing as a pro-ID scientific hypothesis or pro-ID scientific evidence.

Ken Miller, my nig

He's also destroyed ID creationism at length on numerous occasions.

Kenneth Miller completely and utterly eviscerates Intelligent Design creationism over a 2 hour period @ Case Western University, from ID's history and origins to the arguments ID makes and the dishonest tactics IDiots and other creationist professional liars perpetrate on the general public. Lengthy but well worth watching, and trust me he is not the kind of scientist that bores people when he talks.

@ around 1:07:30 Ken gives his reasoning on why the ID creationist movement could be detrimental to America's future. And he's absolutely right because we're already beginning to lose our scientific edge to other countries for other reasons.

Anti-intellectualism is almost never harmless.

I don't think parents should be able to pull their children out of certain classes in public schooling, at will, based on religious belief. Saying that teaching evolution oversteps separation of church & state is as sad as the Catholic church trying to suppress that the world was round. If your belief so goes in contrast to general public school teaching, either choose an appropriate private school or homeschool...seriously. These classes are in following with what mainstream education is teaching & your child will need to know these things for higher education even if they diverge from what your family believes to be true.

I can't fathom why a teacher should grade a child's paper id they do not cover the material being taught. So if a child wants to write their parent's a paper on creationism - awesome. If they want to write a paper in science class, write on the topic being taught.

I also happen to think that "sex ed' is really a biology topic covering human reproduction & shudder than parents can & do opt out of it for their kids.
