Oh I see. No, I don't think so. I mean it would be the same as if you just now added the bio father to the BC, I don't think they really even ask any questions unless the male is saying the child isn't his. I don't think you have to go through any "legal" adoption or anything...
Does your LO have your last name or the bio fathers? Are you planning on changing it?

She has my last name. I wanted to change it because I don't want her to be the only one in the family who doesn't have the same last name and feel left out or different or not really part of the family.

That's NOT true.

From what I understand, as long as the father is not on the birth certificate and has never taken it to court, you can ad your fiance as the father. But if the real father wants to, he can get a DNA test done and be put on the birth certificate at any time.

Unless he has claimed rights legally, then no he does not have rights. He can go try to get it, but no-he doesn't have any. For all the courts know he's just another guy on the street

I understand, I would probably do the same thing.
I was hoping you weren't going to say LO has the bio fathers last name, because then you would definitely have to get permission from him to change it.

When you go to put his name on the BC you should just say he is the bio father but he wasn't around when you filed the paperwork before. I mean, they aren't going to do a DNA test unless your SO denies it.

Also, if I remember correctly, I spoke to a lawyer about bio dad nearly a year ago and he said that in the state of Georgia if a man has no contact with a child and doesn't pay child support for a year straight then he automatically terminates his rights as father. But a lot of our lawyers are pretty backwoods and I'm not sure if that's correct.
My daughter is 3 1/2 and she has never met her dad and never recieved child support. SO has been around since my daughter was a month old. She calls SO daddy and he treats her just like she is his.

Then why are men forced to pay for CS when they're not on the BC and have nothing to do with the child? This is no different. It doesn't matter that he's not on the BC, he's still the father.

I've never heard of a father being forced to pay child support when they're not on the birth certificate. I'm not saying it's not true, but I've never heard of it.

I have yet to hear or see anyone have this issue. Chances are those guys have some legal connection to the child. Don't call me a liar, I just went through a year with a lawyer doing all this crap and to court twice. I think you are just throwing bullsmurf around. The guy would have to have determined a connection directly to the child in some way, including a DNA test. Unless your state has some crappy laws on child support

Right, that is because the mother went after the father for child support, & then the courts did a DNA test & determined he was the father.

Until the courts do a DNA test & determine who the father is, the OP can "pick" ANYBODY to be the father. If whoever she picks denies being the father, THEN they will do a DNA test. But if the man OP picks as the father doesn't deny the child, then it is what it is.

Also, you can put anybody's name on the BC, they don't do a DNA test to PROVE the males name you wrote down is the father.

This. And if a man is paying child support but not seeing the child, it's because he either is deemed unfit or doesn't want to see the child.

or the mother wont let him see his children..I am not trying to be an ass but to many people believe what you have said and that simply is not true...Yes it does happen but not in all cases
