That's good. I think midwives are amazing. They really push for natural births, something our bodies were designed to do. I really felt my midwife explained everything to me and was with me every step of the way, she even gave me her mobile number in case I had any problems, and txted me occasionally to see how I was doing! I was gutted I didn't get her for my birth but she had just completed a shift delivering another woman's baby and needed sleep, but the other midwives I saw were brilliant too. Unfortunately I needed medical intervention but they were so nice about it and explained everything!

Aw I'm so sorry for her   but glad she had a good experience in our health care system. I hate it when people bad mouth it, it's not only free but extremely up-to-date and all the staff are well trained and practice within certain guidelines. Who can argue with that?

you guys definitely have a great health care system. if i had to be sick ./ deliver a baby outside the States I would pick UK/Ireland as my #1!

Midwives really are amazing! Too funny, I also had a different midwife attend my son's birth than the one who did my prenatal care. Annmarie (my midwife) visited me several times while I was in the hospital and I thought that was extremely nice of her and showed her character. At the hospital we use, midwives are on staff just like doctors. So you just get whoever is working that day! I was able to have an epidural, and have a midwife attend the birth which I thought was great (for me at least!). My husband was fighting the war in Afghanistan while I was delivering our baby boy and they were very nice but letting him call in after hours and skype with me during and after the birth to see our baby :-)

Aw I'm glad you have a good experience. Do you have aftercare in the US? Here we have Sure Start/ Children's Health Centre's which are open everyday and run classes and drop ins everyday.
