re: Did I handle this wrong?

Well so we took DS in to the ER last night because I just didnt feel comfortable putting him to bed sounding that raspy. So we get to the ER and both the Dr and nurse, first thing they say is "hey, thats croupe" so they give him some steriods and decide to do an albuterol breathing treatment and it helps immediatly. Apparently it doesnt help croupe that fast and we find out he has athsma (sp?) on top of the croupe. So before we can leave he has to get his temp taken one last time to make sure it hadnt gone up from his slight fever. It was up almost 2 degrees. We go do a chest xray, he has pneumonia. So I'm typing this from our hospital room as he is napping between breathing treatments. They cant get the swelling in his throat down so they may be trying a second medication in the breathing treatment and we are on watch to see if he needs oxygen. Its gonna be a long day.

Haha no they didnt but he is on an IV and its making it so he wont eat, he went from eating 6 oz every 3 or 4 hours to 1-2 oz every 3 hours. They are just about to decrease his IV fluid because they want him eating better before we can go home.

Yeah breathing treatments suck. I had to do them as a child and they gave me heart palpitations.

See, you should have listened to your MIL.. it would have all been cured by giving your baby juice and starving them of nutrients.. that always fixes everything.

Oh of course. We are finally home from the hospital and its that the athsma is acting up and he only has the swollen throat part of the croupe and not the mucous so he is on antibiotics for the pnumonia and breathing treatments for the croupe and athsma.

Oh i'm sure its because back when DH was a baby they did things differently and thats not the part that gets me, its that she is constantly acting like her opinion needs to be more important than mine and gets mad when I do what I think is best.
