Quoting ~~Nae~:" Thats what I was thinking but she kept saying things like "No really the formula is making it worse, ... [snip!] ... and will probably be taking him in tomorrow just to make sure his lungs arnt too bad but I highly doubt its the milk doing it."

well really...i've always heard cow's milk makes congestion worse. and nutramigen is still cow's milk. she just isn't considering his age (needing the formula still), and that nutramigen is broken down alot so I doubt it's having a whole lot of effect on his cold.
but at 4 months..he still needs his formula.

now that i think about it though...DS got pneumonia after having a cold for a few days because he was congested and wasn't coughing it up. He was also still on nutramigen. not saying nutramigen caused the cold...but it could have contributed to the pneumonia maybe?

Quoting ~~Nae~:" Since its not animal milk I dont think it would cause cogestion in the first place but she wasnt saying lower milk intake she was saying cut it out."

nutramigen is animal milk. it's still based off of cow's milk..just broken down enough so that the body doesn't recognize the proteins and attack itself because of them.
and i didn't say it caused congestion but cow's milk can make it worse.

and i agree with you...you shouldn't 'cut it out' or even lower the intake at his age.

We evenually had a blow up about it at DH's bday party because she wouldnt quit feeding her ice cream and when I finally went to take her my MIL refused to give her to my and tried to shield her from me and I flipped.

milk can make phlegm/mucous thicker when you are congested. that's why she is saying it can make it worse.

True, I wasn't laughing at that part. I told her that it could be but he still needed milk at 4 months old and at that point she wouldnt listen to me cause she was so pissed off.

Take her with you to the dr. like i did, then i started asking the dr all her stupid questions that i had already told her were wrong misinformed or not quite so.. then the dr told me first hand the same things i told her and then i said thank you, someone had told me this.. and she felt stupid, shut up and everytime she said something, once corrected she would never bring it up again.

Quoting Mama Lizzy :]:" Juice is dangerous for a baby that young isn't it?"
i think at 3 months they can start getting 3 oz of half apple or pear juice and half water a day, but i'm not positive if thats the age for it.

No. Many people don't even Give their children juice at all cause it's really not that healthy. It's more healthy to give your child real fruit. Especially when they're so young. If they can't drink it out of a cup they don't need it (unless of course as I stated earlier as directed by a dr for constipation).
