Fever Question

DS has a fever, has had it since yesterday. About 2 hours ago his temp was 101.4 under the arm. I gave him a dose of Infant Ibuprofen. Just took his temp again it's 101.3. So...is the ibuprofen not helping? It usually goes down half an hour after giving it to him.

When taking his temp under the arm do you add 1 degree? I heard it somewhere but not sure if it's true. If it is true then the above temps are 102.4 and 102.3

Eta: Forgot to put he is 14 months.

There's not a real reason to be concerned until it hits 104... Give the medicine a little longer to kick in.

102 is when hospital will give meds. So what you're doing is fine. If u have Tylenol too he can take that as well every 4 hours and do Motrin every 6. They cn overlap since they work differently.

All I have is the ibuprofen but thanks   He's acting normal for the most part so we'll see how he is tomorrow.

Thats still low grade for a child. So as long as he's acting fine and there's no sign of Infection there nothing anyone can do for him besides five Tylenol. If it gets to 104 then take him in if meds aren't working.
