First solid food? Questions.

I fed my 5 month old (in a week and some days) his first veggie tonight. He HATED rice and oatmeal and refused to eat it. I made him a medium sized sweet potato in his baby bullet. Well, he ate THE WHOLE THING. Then I was told by several people and the baby bullet manual that you should ONLY feed them a tablespoon at first and for each feeding for a couple of weeks? So...did I do something bad? And do I only feed him once a day starting? I know you do one vegetable at first and wait 4 days in case of a reaction. But does he still take the usual 5 oz bottles per day, even if he's being fed his solids? TIA.

His milk intake should not change. He doesn't NEeD solids but he does need te milk.

The amount of milk he drinks should not decrease at all. Always feed the bottle first, then solids. & I definitely would not do an entire jar of solids, he's so little still.
