Some people just like to use the internet to make their lives more exciting. Doesn't mean the guy is lying to you.

Would have to agree with there being a difference between a person lying to hide things and hurt people and someone who is just a "story fabricator" ( I like that term and I'm going to use it from now on lol) I have a friend who is one of these story fabricators and he honestly lies about stupid things ALL THE TIME. Sometimes people just want to be part of the conversation and included with other people so they just make little things up to be part of the situation, that is what my friend does anyway. You know if me and DH were talking about going on a trip somewhere he would say he had already been and tell us it's a lovely place even though it would be quite evident he hadn't. Yes it is constant and yes it is incredibly obvious to us who have known him for years that a lot of the time he is talking complete nonsense but we just go along with him and laugh it off later, if it makes him feel like he is more interesting or whatever and his lies aren't hurting anyone then carry on lol

I don't think lying to people on the internet is a big deal because lots of people use the net to live out their fantasy lives, but if he's lying irl then yes that's a problem and you should confront him about it.

I knew a girl that created a fantasy life online and used my friends life as the base... she kept it up for like 6 years. Bitch was insane!!!
