posted 22nd Nov
So my sister in law has a baby around the same age as my LO she is 5mo mine is 6mo and she always always dresses up her girls for holidays.. and me i was tight on cash.. didnt have time to doll them up and well i just feel bad... I know my 6mo old wont even care what she wears but mom does and for pictures and memories... i just feel bad that i didnt have money or time to buy them both a nice thanksgiving outfit with bows... makes me sad and then seeing her daughters today all dolled up... am i a bad mom for not dressing them up nice today? I mean they will have a nice outfit but NOT thanksgiving exclusive or "My first thanksgiving" nothing like that...

Psh, nothing wrong with that. I usually buy my kids Christmas outfits, but then we usually have pictures taken professionally. Besides that, idc as long as they're clean and happy. But today, at K Mart they have super cute dresses for $10 each, if you can swing that.

No your not a bad mom. But I was at wal mart this morning and they have super cute lacy skirts in red, black, and cream for only 5$! And super cute tights for 2$! If you can swing 10$ you could go get her something cute. I always doll my kids up, but never spend a lot.

I have the money to spend and we still don't buy special Thanksgiving outfits anyway. It's a waste.

Idk, she's just rude. I would ignore it, she's your child. You're not hurting her, or neglecting her and she doesn't even really know what's going on. It's not hurting her to wear a onesie and pants as opposed to sequins and ribbons and girly fluff at every holiday.

i bought my son 2 thanksgiving onesies from walmart for like $4 each, so they werent expensive. but he still never even wore them lol he was like 3 months old at thanksgiving so he didnt know or care what he was wearing.

it doesnt make you a bad mom, sometimes money is tight and its just not possible to get those extra things - i know it gets like that for me sometimes. as long as your daughter is fed and clothed thats what matters, getting outfits specific to holidays is nice but its not necessary. your daughter has what she needs and thats whats important.

your SIL should be a bit more considerate.

You're so not a bad mom for that! My sons birthday is the fourth of July and it was over 100• this year! Why would someone put extremely frilly hot stuff on their child in 100+ weather?

No way! I think it's a totaly waste of time and money to go out and buy something for dinner or a get together with the family. It's great your sister has the time and money - but you shouldn't be made to feel bad because you don't.

If it makes you feel better, it's Thanksgiving and my son is running around in underwear and a t-shirt and when we sit down to eat, he will be stripped cause he is a disgusting mess.

My son is in a pullup and socks because he pissed in his pants and it got on his shirt & we won't even be having thanksgiving dinner because we're stuck in FL and pay check didn't load

exactly why i havent dressed my son up special for anything (other than when we've gotten professional pictures done) because he drools so much because hes teething, and he has a problem with his stomach which causes him to throw up every time he eats so if i bothered to dress him up for holidays he'd only wear the outfits for like an hour at most lol its a waste of money.

I have a SIL who dresses her children up all the time for special dinners and at Christmas they always have a Christmas outfit on.

Do I care no way, last year someone bought him a santa outfit but we decided to not dress him in it.

As long as they are clean and healthy, it does not make you a good mother by dressing them up.
