I got into a crap ton of trouble when I was about 6 or 7 for thieving my moms pastels that she paid hundreds of dollars for.

  my mom would have murdered me if I played with her pastels or oils. I had "designated" supplies. If I even thought about using hers she knew and would tell me to stop thinking about it and use the cheapies.   that woman spent soooo much money on high end stuff. She painted starry night by memory over the course of a year (just to see if she could) and being the brat I was, I added special touches to it   she's not so much as mad at me about it still but she doesn't like that I added red dots to her stars

My mom isn't into the traditional things like painting, but she does have an art studio, she does mixed media, works with everything from glass to art quilts. She did draw and paint for a while, but she was never wonderful at it, she didn't have the patience, I don't think - she refuses to use any kind of pattern or instructions, lol, even for crocheting, she always does free form. (Which was pretty funny when she first started out).

This is what we use to buy things in large quantities for our classroom. There's tons of other pretty great craft/art supplies for kids. I love that you're encouraging them to get creative!

Yeah... I learned the recipe thing the hard way making some sort of chicken dish... Absolutely disgusting realizing I can only eyeball spices and not liquids LOL

  Whenever I say I'm going to try something new, my SO is like "hey, get a pizza while your at the store, you know how this stuff tends to go."

Awe   lol. DH is pretty good at not letting me know if it's horrible. I always have a back up plan in case the new recipe is a flop lol
