Birth control OTC?

OBGYN's are now saying that birth control should be OTC (besides condoms). I don't know how I'd feel about it. I feel like their should be an age limit but it's a good idea in theory. But I don't know that I would like it my 14 year old daughter could just get birth control without me knowing either. For me I think it's a good idea, but I also think that if it was MY daughter who was buying BC OTC I would be very upset that she didn't come to me first. I know that when I do have a daughter hopefully this won't be an issue and she can come to me about these things but I know teens nowadays just think their parents don't understand.

BAD idea. Some women with certain issues should not use hormonal birth control and might not know unless they saw a doctor. It is something that messes with your body's natural rhythm and should be (at least vaguely) monitored by a doctor

I think that if you've had a pap within a year it should be OTC. It's kind of a pain in the ass having to go to the doctor every time you need new bc. I personally wouldn't mind if my daughter got bc OTC without telling me. It's better that than teen pregnancy.

It's a good idea in one respect because the more readily available, the more it'll b used (especially if there is no scary doctor appointment or parents having to be told) but on the other hand not so good with hormone levels and contradicting medication.

It would be good to have more places where you can get the right thing for you whilst being quiet about it - we have them over here where you can get parenting advice, pregnancy advice, STI advice and testing, pregnancy testing, contraception and help without parents knowing.

Although I'd prefer my children to talk to me about it I would rather them be safe instead of going ahead with no regard to the consequences because they were too afraid to ask. Some kids will go ahead and have sex underaged and without proper information but IMO it's better for them to be safe than sorry and not catch and STI or have an unwanted pregnancy.

Here you can get it without parental knowledge/consent...it's called planned parenthood. So i guess if she really wanted it, my daughter would have access anyways.

But i think it's a bad idea. How do you know what dosage or kind you need? I have had tons of issues with it, got pregnant on it.
