Would you rat out your manager?

posted 22nd Nov
Let's say your manager is a complete bitch and makes life hell at work.

Your work has a rewards program that they push ALL the time. If people say no, you must not of informed/pushed/harassed enough for them to say yes :p

Well what if you found out that the manager is signing up people for the rewards program without permission. Or signing up people for the program without the persons real information. For example, Mary Smith goes to the register and declines the rewards program... manager enrolls Alissa Jones into the system with fake info.

Would you contact corporate? Or let it go?

Yeah, probably.

You may lose your job over it, though...but if you work for a complete bitch, that might not be a bad thing.

I think I will be fired after not going in for Black Friday. I almost quit today. So its NOT a big deal if I get fired. I smurfing HATE this bitch. She is so smurfing mean and a bitch.

She bitched at me today because I wasnt moving fast enough and asked questions. Well excuse me bitch, someone tried returning obviously used shoes and clothes. Like, shoes that look like they were dragged across a parking lot for an hour. I was NOT going to return them (they didnt even have a receipt) but the girl says "They just dont fit!" Uh huh, sure. So I ask for her to come help me and she bitches. But I bet if I returned it without her okaying it I'd be in trouble.

I got bitched at for not being fast enough, for smurf like someone returning 3 items from one receipt. You have to process each receipt, do the return, open a new transaction for the next receipt with 2 items. Finish transaction, do the last return on a card without a receipt. You CANT process all returns at once. So its all on different transactions and takes a moment but Im supposed to be snappy.

I could go on and on. But today I got proof she is making fake signups for the rewards program, so I think she has an incentive for the sign ups which is why she pushes them so much. She also keeps bitching at us for people opening up credit cards. Its like OUR fault if they say no. So they say no, and it looks bad on us.

Hate her. HATE her.

If you're reporting it to a higher power than your manager, have evidence and it's saving their asses: do it. Even if it's anonymously.

I have proof of a coworker noticing it... but other than that the surveillance tapes can be seen. Or in this case, the fact that the name on the return of the rewards had NOTHING to do with who bought it on the credit card... since she signed her up under a fake name.

Now I know why she always rips up that piece of paper with the info on it. Because it's fake. I need to get one of those papers!!!

I think there's usually a chain of command for this kind of thing too. I'd go through all those people first before going any higher. But I'd definitely report it!

I just dont want my store knowing I made the complaint. We have another sweetie manager there that is great. But I dont want to put her in the middle, even though she complains about her too.

I probably would not care unless people were actuly getting hurt. like having money or something stolen from them.

If you are not comfortable with this rewords, selling, pushing ect then maybe you can work in a diffident part of the company?

I use to work in sales and at one point I got tired of all the lying to make money so I transferred to a part of my company that I did not need to push people and I loved it. Maybe that is something you could talk to the manager about

I worked in the corporate world a long time and I found that often times when the person above you is doing something wrong the people above them already know. Often they don't care
And turning them in will often get you in trouble. Because corporate america is corrupt and shadier than most people know.I have see a lot of good people retaliated against for turning in managers
If you want to move up in a company it is best to let people hang them self rather than being the one who tries to hang them. In time they will get caught.
I see no need to be the tattle tale, from experience it often gets the "tattle tale" demoted, moved to another store or treated badly until they quit. Even if they are the one who is right.

I have even worked in stores that claim to have an anonymous hotline for turning people in who are stealing....well that hot line is NOT anonymous.

It is wrong and sad and corrupt! Yes the right thing to do it to turn them in but the right thing is not always the best thing for the little person.

I am not OK with people stealing but I would not risk my job by turning them in.
