Anxiety...

posted 22nd Nov
What do you do when you are having pretty bad anxiety about something? Ugh I just can't calm myself down. I have soo much smurfing anxiety right now, it is all I can think about & it is making my stomach hurt.

Take a bath and listen to music. If that doesn't work I usually just call my mom. She has all sorts of anxiety, depression and bi polar. So she can usually calm me down pretty easy.

I usually try to distract myself with a puzzle game or a funny movie.
But if im about to have a full blown panic attack, cold water in the face and deep breathing helps.

Try counting colors in the room you're in, or count tiles on the ceiling/floor.

I call my friend, we talk about our day, may be meet up and walk around town. Fresh air cheers me up and good company is always a good thing for me.

Really? Stuff like that makes me more nervous when I'm having an attack. Or people moving around and pretty much doing normal stuff makes it worse too. Like for example, I get REALLY nervous at Dr. appointments (I don't know why, I've just always been that way, even when DH has an appointment.) and if DH is tapping his feet or walking around I make him stop because it makes me so unbelievably nervous.

Sometimes when I get woke up really early in the morning I'll have bad anxiety attacks. I'll count & sometimes that helps. Anything to distract my mind.

It has always helped me.
Usually im still feeling anxious when I first start, but as I get into it and start organizing the colors/numbers in My mind I forget the anxiety and it passes
I was diagnosed with severe anxiety and agoraphobia when I was 6 so I've learned lots of little tricks to calm myself.

Yea, I guess it probably would help me too if I actually sat there and did it for a while. I just have a hard time focusing on something when I'm anxious.

I started having actual panic attacks at 6 years old.
I always worry about dying, the end of the world, conspiracy theories, ect.
If I overthink that stuff it makes my anxiety horrible.

And going places that are unfamiliar is bad for me also.
I got so nervous on Halloween thinking about all the people and crowds that I threw up twice.
