A little Worried having my Second Child.

posted 22nd Nov
Well I have 8 weeks left with my second child and am finding my self more nervous about labor this time.. I'm actually going to have another c-section after having to get an emergancy c-section with my first son.. I don't know exactly what is worrying me so much. I wasn't even nervous about labor the first time so I'm just trying to figure out why I'm dreading it so much now.   My first c-section went perfectly fine and I loved it after being in labor for 28hrs and pushing for 12 or so of it. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has ever felt this or has any advice. I mean having my first Childs when I should have been nervous and scared.. not now.. this isnt new.. I've done it all before. I guess I'm just wondering If that same peaceful feeling I had before I had my first son is ever going to come or not cause it's sure not looking like it.

I am with you there. I wasn't worried at all when I went into labor with my first daughter. But now with this one. I am freaking out already and I still have 7 weeks left. To be honest I have been freaking out about it since I found out I was pregnant again. ;)

When you had your first, you'd been in labor awhile and really didn't have time to process that you were about to have surgery. I had the same thing with my first. You're just so worried about the baby and intent on getting him out safely that the fact that you're about to have surgery that you will be awake for doesn't really register.

With a second, you have months to think about it. To anticipate it and to get scared about what will happen. You know you're going to have surgery. You know you'll be awake through it. That's a huge thing and it's normal to be more afraid.

I've had 4 c-sections. My first was my worst, but my second was the one I feared the most. A planned c-section is so different from an emergency c-section. There's no rushing around, there's no worry about the baby needing to come out ASAP. In fact, this last c-section (7 weeks ago today) was my most calm and serene out of all of them. I was nervous, but nowhere near as petrified as I was with my second. I know where you're coming from. If you want to talk or you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm a c-section veteran lol.

Thanks and I guess this is all kind of what I'm feeling. The first just happened all at once & I feel like this is going to take forever and I'm more aware of whats going to be going on and I really don't wana be. Not to mention my husbands all like your never having a natural birth again, csections way easier and faster and I'm just like well I'm glad your not worried but it kind of just up sets me more.

Well, your husband is wrong for one thing. I was going to have a VBA3C with my baby, but I went to 41 weeks with no sign of labor and my health started deteriorating so it was best to get her out. But plenty of doctors will let you VBAC. A c-section is not way easier. Easier for HIM, easier for the doctor, but not easier for you! Not by a long shot! Sheesh! It's major abdominal surgery...WTF is wrong with him?

Honestly, once you get there and get prepped, it goes quickly. I got down to the OR at 3:15 and my DD was born at 3:33. After they get your baby out, you'll probably be drowsy (from lack of sleep and from coming down from the adrenaline rush from the nerves) and might even fall asleep while they stitch you back up. I did with # 2, 3, and 4.

I refused to schedule mine until I was 40 weeks. I actually didn't schedule it even then... She penciled it in as an "in case", but I made it to 41 weeks exactly. I'm glad I let her bake as long as she did.

Well I was just wondering if I should go ahead cause the nurse at the hospital I'm going to deliver at told me they already had them booked up to the first of the year and if I was going to have one I needed it scheduled already.

If they're booked up to the first, I would maybe schedule it for your due date or somewhere within a couple of days of it (depending on when your doc does her c-sections).
