Newborn with bradycardia and sleep apnea, Any moms have chil

The second happiuest day of my life happened one week ago today. I was over joyed at my precious baby I had an easy induction almost pain free... and bawled my eyes out when I saw my beautiful boy... Weel that happiness has turned to so much struggling, pain, worry and wondering if my baby boy is going to die every single day.....

I took him to the ER 4 hours after coming home because he was blue around his mouth....after spending 2 days in regular peds, the nurse actually caught and apnea attack aqs she checked his stats....His heart rate was on 60... I saw 10 different people rush in the room , and I was hysterical.....I had no idea what what was going on, everything was a blur until they told me they had to rush him to the PICU.....

Since then, weve had 3 Pneumograms, blood test after blood test, neumorous leads and patches put all around my baby...he's on oxygen, constant telemetry monitoring...Head ultraqsound, 2 heart echos a chest x-ray Good news bad news, some answers, no answers...

We know he had an abnormal pneumogram, he is bradycardic, his heart rate drops lower than normal for a newborn. and his base line heart rate runs low.....we don't know why. My eldest son had apnea, thats not new, but

the low oxygen levels that require oxygen at home scare the smurf out of me

and as I just posted we JUST found out he tested positive for the colonization of MRSA....He's only a week old for smurfs sake....



Has any one else been through this?

I have not had that happen to me, but I am so terrified of my son dying on me. He has sleep apnea and an unknown disorder that causes his throat to close. I've watched him almost die twice. It is miserable and nothing I wish on any family. Your family is in my prayers. Stay strong for you beautiful baby momma

I will pray for you too... I completely understand what you are going through right now... I think I may be getting ICU psychosis.....

that coupled with, being 7 days PP....Having a child that seems to have so many health issues.... I was so smurfing happy when he was born, now all I've done is worry my butt off about this perfect little boy being okay... and hoping like you hope, he doesnt die...and now we just found out he has colonized MRSA.....



I feel like Im going to crack soon

I really can't imagine what you are going through right now. We've gone through a lot, but not that young and not all at once. Is there anyone who an stay at the hospital for an hour or so so you can leave- even just go cry for a little while. I know it sounds weird, but it helps me to have the point where I do crack

LO1 had the bradycardia and sleep apnea. (he was 12wks early, but anywho) He was on caffine that kept him breathing and his heart rate up without extra machines. But when they said he could come home, his blood pressure shot up and they had to stop the caffine. the stayed for a week to get the caffine out of his system, and to re-do the carseat test (hook him up to the monitors and see if his levels drop when strapped into a carseat). Everything was ok, but they sent us home with an apnea/bradycardia detector anyways. 2 rubber paddles on either side of his chest under his armpits held on by a velcro strap. It picked up his breathing and heart rate. if his heart rate dropped low (parameters can be set) or he went more than so long without breathing, it would go off. Luckily it nevver did, but it help me sleep easier knowing if something DID go wrong, it would go off.

Ive cried in his room enough, my husband is getting me and taking me Or is going to try to take me to his sisters to eat dinner....


and I feel so guilty leaving my lil man, but I want to see my other son so much....I feel so torn up right now. It is a lot to go through. It seems the second we get any good news, something bad happens...

I will be on in the AM most likely but I need to pump and sleep.

My siblings had these monitors ( they came home at 1 month, 1 1/2 month, and 2 months old) my parents ( well me too) felt much better knowing we would be woken up

I should have noted my other son had apnea as an infant too....that was a walk in the park compared to all of this smurf...


all I can do is put faith in God and realize that what's mean tot be will happen.

I used to feel guilty too ( during my sons hospital stays) but you need it. I would rush back even knowing he had people with him. It was hard just to go downstairs alone. You are not alone feeling that way!
