Bleeding won't stop on Mirena

I got the Mirena IUD put in three weeks ago and I haven't stopped bleeding since. I called the doctor's office and the nurse told me this is normal and that I can bleed for THREE to SIX MONTHS! I did NOT know this ahead of time so I told them I want them to take it out. Have any of you experienced this? For those of you who have had the Mirena, how long did you bleed for?

My husband is getting home from the Army finally in two weeks and we have a lot of catching up to do. I don't want to still be bleeding!  

Up I bled from march till October when it fell out

Mine was about the same way and stopped after 3-4 weeks. I spotted often after that initial bullsmurf. Now I haven't had any bleeding in a few months. I got it in April. Love it!

Aug 2011 when I got it until september 2012 when it fell out. I got it reinserted last month and I'm still bleeding... I'm about to give up on the smurfer

I had mine in for about a year and bled almost every time I had sex..... I also got pregnant while on it, worst birth control ever. I'd get it removed if it continues to bleed

I hated it! I bled for about two weeks initially then my hair wouldn't stop falling out and I was extremely emotional. It too fell out and I had a molar pregnancy a few weeks afterward.

i had mine in for almost three months.. i bled the whole time.. but i also had a lot of side effects from it besides that.. after i had this baby i went with the paraguard the only time i bleed is when AF shows her ugly bloody face.

I lost so much blood and had horrible cramps! I went into the ER and they got fluids in,me I stayed the night at the hospital and the mother smurfers sent me home. Next day I started bleeding bad again and I saw my doctor she did an ultrasound to find it stuck in my cervix and my body was trying to reject it.
