So Annoyed!

posted 21st Nov
I love my Grandmother don't get me wrong, but my lord she drives me insane!

I can't say anything without her response being "Just wait until the baby gets here," or "It doesn't get any better." Earlier my aunt posted a status saying "Yay laundry...said no one ever." I commented on it saying "Monday I have tons of baby clothes to wash, so not looking forward to it because there is so many lol." It kind of seemed like she got onto me for that & was like "They're tiny though, wash them all at once. Just wait until he takes over your house, then you'll never get anything done." I doubt she is trying to sound rude, but she always comes off that way. I guess I kind of feel like she is being very negative towards me about motherhood. Like she is trying to make me un-excited, even though I'm sure that's not the case. Like I said I love her to death, but what can I say to her to make her stop without sounding like a bitch?

I think the best you can do is ignore the annoyance unless you are looking for hurt feelings, a fight, or drama.

The thing is, what she is saying is true. lol.

Just try not to let it bother you. I'm sure she means well. Older mothers/grandmas like to try to "prepare" us for what is to come, what they don't always realize is how annoying it can be.

Lol, I know it's all true. I just hate that she acts like I won't be able to handle it, you know? I guess it's also my hormones. Lately everything drives me crazy.

Dear lord I know the feeling. But it's not just my grandmother doing it, it's people everywhere. Strangers, coworkers, other family members. What annoys me more though, is people who feel they have to constantly tell you what you can and can't do while you're pregnant. "You can't dye your hair, you can't eat that, you're not supposed to drink that, you have to do this, blah blah blah". Just have to grin and bear it. They all mean well, but they don't realize how annoying they are. Even the ones who (like a close friend of mine) have never been pregnant or had children.

Ppl say stuff like that to me all the time. I take it as half teasing half serious. They want u to be prepared, i dont take it as them putting me down, just helping prepare me.

Yeah, no, \I totally know how you feel. I'm sure she doesn't think you can't handle it. They just think they are preparing us, or something.   I think a lot of expecting mothers hear this sort of thing, yhou're not alone!

Oh gosh, I know. Lol. My bestfriend does that to me all the time & has never been pregnant or really even been around little kids or babies. It drives me nuts.

Lol. My SO's niece is 9 & she is constantly telling me how much pain I am going to be in when I have contractions. I don't get irritated with her though, I just laugh & go along with it.

Also, I've recently been thinking about going natural, and the moment someone asks and I tell them this, they laugh and say "Yeah right, you're gonna want the juice." ...stfu.

I know how that goes too. If I even mention natural birth everyone looks at me like I'm crazy. I'm just kind of like...okay then.
