Cytotec for miscarriage

posted 21st Nov
Had my doctor appt today to check my levels, and they were at 10. She gave me cytotec to finish getting the rest out of my uterus. She did an ultrasound, and I still had debris in my uterus. My dosage was 4 pills inserted vaginally and 4, 12 hrs later. I was also prescribed pain killers. I was told I would get pretty crampy, but I haven't. I am passing more clots, but not experiencing any pain. Is this normal?

When I took it it felt like labor. It happened about 3-4 hours after taking it.

She said most everything was passed, but it may take a while. So we talked and she gave me the pills to pass the little that was left. She was going to just suction it out, but I was super sensitive during the exam and pelvic ultrasound. Bleeding a bit more than I was before the pills, but I inserted them at 1:45 pm. Some cramping, nothing that I needed tylenol for. Now, the cramping is gone.

ETA-I passed the majority of the clots Monday night and Tuesday. I'm just wondering if I inserted them far enough up there...

It's different for everyone really. Do you have a follow up apt to check that everything has passed?

Yep. Next Wednesday at 1:30. They are going to check my levels again, also.

Well as long as you've still passed more clots and bleeding, I wouldn't worry too much. Hopefully you're just one of the lucky ones who don't get too much cramping.

Either way I'm very sorry for your loss.

Thank you. I am too...

I was reading that it just needs to be absorped into the system, so my doc could've told me to take them orally also.

I used to have horrible cramps before DD with my periods. Now, I barely notice them. Perhaps I didn't cramp as badly because most of it had passed.
