I am the daughter of an army brat, and if I did something like this (which I wouldn't), I would be disowned.

According to the Old Guard who stand watch there amOng the Unknowns, Stone has a right to freedom of speech.

I find it pretty ironic how that while most folks are screaming for her blood and wages, those part of the uniform she supposedly disrespected are NOT making a beef over it.


I don't think she should lose her job. Be disciplined for bringing negative press to her employer, sure. But that's it.
And for the record, my grandmother is buried in Arlington next to my grandfather's plot and their stillborn son is buried next to her, so I don have family in there and I don't feel disrespected at all.

I do think this woman displayed a lack of taste and impulse-control. And as for "challenging authority"... far from. To do the opposite of what you're told to do , for no other reason than TO DO SO is reactionary. She should have known how this pic would be perceived and I do think she was tacky, but if the Guard aren't raising hell neither will I.

This just in - the Hire Lindsey Stone site that has 44 likes after a whole day believes she will now suffer from PTSD from this experience. They are actually going to go that route against actual combat vets. Bite.

Hire Lindsey Stone You don't think all this isn't going to ruin her life for a good few years? You think she's going to dare to step outside for the next few weeks? You think she won't suffer some kind of PTSD after this? You think anyone will want to employ her after this?

I have ptsd, not combat related but damn I dont try to question it because its hard to say what a person went through and how it affected them but claiming she will have it is ridiculous.

First of all, she's not flicking off a camera, she is flicking off a sign at the ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY that is asking for silence and respect. We both know this.
Secondly, "we are willing to bend every time someone shows offense in todays society"? ---oh dear God. I'm on my fourth very large glass of wine and it's so damn hard to not to say bad things. Okay, okay- I'm good.
Are you out of your damn mind? Do you realize where she is at? I don't give two smurfing smurfs if she doesn't support our troops- which she probably does considering her apology to the public once this smurf went crazy.
The men that are buried in that cemetery, that tomb, those bodies, are all there because they served this country.. those are my brothers, those are my sisters, how smurfing dare you say that smurf. They didn't get there because they batted their eyelashes, they got there because they fought wars. They watched the people around them die. One day they're fighting for the rights of every single smurfing American, the next they're gone... because of an IED, or a landmine, or a German soldier, or the VC, or the Taliban, or a grenade.
And your puny tiny little brain cannot conceive the fact that she's smurfing disrespecting our nations most courage men and women?
I seriously want to blow up on you right now. Take my place for two seconds. Say you are a United States Marine and went into a war zone at 19 years old. See the shots firing at you, but because you can't make eye contact- you can't fire back. Say you saw a smurfing car full of bombs.. and you're just waiting for the trigger man to push the right button to blow up the people that have become your family. Not all of us worship the military as some set of demi gods however. And I'm pretty sure saying the military is fighting for my rights against the taliban or the VC is stretching it a bit. There's only been 2 actual times in this countries history you could even state they were fighting for our rights. And even in regards to ww2 you could make the point against that. I didn't say she is a saintly human being, or she is even right, just she has the right to say what she wants is all.

Like most countries simply by the rights given to us. Someone invades us for our land then we can argue for the cause of the military protecting that. Last I checked the last foreign troops to leave u.s. soil left nearly 200 years ago.
