My oldest is named after James Dean, he thinks he's awesome lol I'm sure kids in his class don't know who he is, but other parents and his teacher love his name, and Dean does give his namesake a run for the money lol

It's Elliana. But we call her Ellie. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her name, my dad just has to find a way to be an ass about everything.

My grandmother had the exact same name as her mother - apparently it wasn't incredibly uncommon back then. (My grandmother was born in 1924, to give you an idea of the time frame, they were both Ruby Jeanne).

Lol, I would certainly never do it - but I don't really find it creepy, but more rigidly traditional. I think kids should have their own names, personally - at least in the first name slot, we do family names in the middle.

Lol both of my daughters (one passed away) have my, mom's, and grsndma's middle name as their second middle name but I don't ever say Ariadne Lucille Lowine last name. I sort of regret it

Creepy how? She's not even using the same name. If naming a child after someone is creepy, then you're talking about yourself. Did you not name one of your children after an ancestor or were planning on doing so?

My DD's name is Eleanor. We call her Ellie occasionally, but mostly Ella.

The "May/Mae" part is over-the-top and makes the name redneck to me. There's lots of other MN choices out there.

Middle names May/Faye/Rae just scream redneck to me.

I love that name. It's better than all the tryndee names out there. If I hear another Isabella or Sophia I'm gonna lose my smurf. As for Ellie Mae I think it's cute. It suits a young child, and as she gets older she can use Eleanor or Nora or something "older" sounding. So she's got options.
