That was a temporary measure only good for a few months, not a true budget. They were doing that to stop the military from revolting because their pay was going to be stopped. It's not a true fiscal year budget.

No that was the real budget since as it says it was for fiscal year 2011.

Yes. Fiscal year. A fiscal year ends in October and that was passed in April. It was good for 6 months.

Because they did not pass one the year before is all. Regardless your statement that they have failed to pass a budget the last 4 years is not correct.

Again, that was a TEMPORARY MEASURE, not a budget. There is a difference. The temporary measure was only for 6 months to cover entitlements and military pay, not be a budget for the ENTIRE federal government.

"We haven’t passed a budget in more than three years and not a single appropriations bill has been brought to the floor this year," U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., said in a press release explaining why he voted against the short-term measure.

The first was a timeline indicating that the last time the Democratic-led Senate passed a budget was on April 29, 2009. The other document was a status report on all 12 of the annual spending bills that provide for federal departments and agencies. According to that document, not one of the 12 spending bills has been considered by the full Senate this year.

I will have to cede the point to you on this matter and say I believe you are correct on this.

I wanted to clarify that I am totally, completely in favor of all of the social services that are out there--in truth, the total spent is not that much in the scheme of things, and the fact is that some people need the help, since this is one of the most inequality-ridden societies in the world.

Some people take the help and expect it to be there for their whole lives. Annoying, to me, but I'd rather everything be there for them too so that those who need the help can get it.
