If your daughter (holidays)

How would you feel if your 18 yr old daughter decided to go to her boyfriend's family's Thanksgiving and not your family's? I have always gone to both of DH's and mine. We want to do both of our family events. I think Thanksgiving is time for family.

I would be upset...She can't just leave us and go to her boyfriends family.

We use to go to both sides for the holidays but my family is split so there's a lot to cover and its so draining so instead of putting dd through that we are alternating. Thanksgiving with one, Christmas with the other than switch next year.

I would feel hurt unless she was in a different town or something

Depends...have they been together a long time? If so then I would be ok with it as long as some point in the day she stopped by!

I wouldn't mind. To me it's just another day where people stuff their faces more then usual

I'd understand if they were engaged or even promised....but just a regular boyfriend? I'd be worried about her cuz if they break up she'll regret not spending it with you.

A year but she's not planning on stopping by at all..

I would be a little sad. If there is no way to be at both, it's up to her to do what she feels is important to her. Maybe she is trying to build a relationship with them.
I always tried to do both, but sometimes we just weren't able to be in both places.

Yeah I mean they aren't married. I understand she wants to be there for his family too but to not even come by and see your family?

I doubt she'd regret not spending one day with her family. At some point most people miss family events for one reason or another.
She's spreading her wings and making her own life.

Yeah, it sucks but guess not much you can do since she is 18. Boo!
