Question! Kinda important

posted 21st Nov
Alright. So, I am 36 weeks pregnant. 2cm dilated & my cervix is thinning. The usual. Anyways.. My doctor wants to schedule an induction because of my epilepsy & it's not completely under control. Good idea or bad idea?

Please. No rude comments. I don't want or need them. I went into labor naturally with my son, but at the time had not yet had any seizures. I was diagnosed in February.

& one more question, my stomach had been hurting the past couple of hours. Like not a horrible pain, but it's constant. It hasn't really stopped. Any idea why?

What are the risk associated w/ epilepsy and labor? When is he/she wanting to induce?

As for the stomach pains, I'd call L&D. Is it like a stabbing, crampy pain or more like I ate something and it didn't agree with me pain? lol

I was induced at 36 weeks for a couple reasons. I guess it wasnt 100% necessary, but myself, my husband, and my midwife all three thought it was the best decision for us and for our daughter.

It was a perfect induction and she was a healthy little girl. We only had to stay one extra day for a tiny bit of jaundice.

As for the belly pain, im not sure. If its a constant pain then its probably not contractions...

I would go with the C-section just to be on the safe side. My husband has Epilepsy and was told that when your body is in a lot pain you could go into a seizure. ( which actually happened to him). I don't know your tolerance for pain or how mild/extreme your epilepsy is, but talk to your doctor and see what their opinion is and what would be best for you the baby. Good luck!

I've had a lot of seizures this pregnancy, especially if I get stressed. He doesn't want me to start having a seizure at home while in labor lol. He wants to schedule in 3 weeks. So, a little over 39 weeks.
It's like a stabbing, crampy kind of pain. I've tried laying down, walking, sitting differently. It still won't go away.
