knee help

I sprained my knee doing 30 day shred.
it happened around day 7 or 8 but I kept up the work out on it until day 12. big mistake. I ended up messing my knee up really bad.. it's been about 5 days since stopping and my knee is healing slowly. it's still swollen and bruised, but less painful.
when I do start working out again, are there any ways to try to prevent another sprain?
shoes, braces?
and how long would you wait to start 30DS again? I wanted to try it today but SO thinks I'm going to hurt myself worse since it's not totally healed. He's probably right.
I was really enjoying doing it, and felt really good until hurting myself. so I'm pretty bummed out not being able to work out now

I'm no help as to what to do with your knee now, but for the future, you should definitely consider wearing running shoes. I've had a lot of injuries (minor but still) with 30DS and I'm pretty sure it was because I was doing it barefoot. Hope you feel better soon!

thank you! that's probably part of why I got hurt so bad. I wore my running shoes some of the time, but because they didn't grip well on my floor I just went without them a lot.

You must be exercising too much. And hence this may be one of the causes for your knee problems.
