Finger sucking

Anyone have tips on getting a toddler to stop sucking their fingers? DS sucks on his index and middle finger, and has caused sores in between the fingers that bleed. His pedi said it is fine but they look so painful, and I am afraid they will get infected. Any ideas would be great!
