HSG test

Have you had one done before? I was reading the info given by my Dr and it sounds painful? What would be the painful part the dye? And how long do cramps last after?
Thanks!

Yes. The painful part for me was the balloon. I was crying and yelling.

It wasn't painful for me. More uncomfortable than painful.

It was quite painful for me, not gonna lie. But most women do not experience a lot of pain. If I had to do it again I would take ibuprofen and Valium beforehand.

I don't think a balloon was involved with mine.

Yeah my Dr suggested I start Tylenol with Codene the night before which is what sparked my "just how bad is the pain" question.
I have a really high pain threshold. So hoping I can be more on th uncomfortable side.

They inflated something. I think they called it a balloon.

I've had two HSGs none of them were painful.. The most uncomfortable part was the speculum and the local anesthetic on my cervix. I had some mild period like cramps for 5 minutes tops after.

I had my first HSG in July, it seriously was NO BIG DEAL, I got a bit of cramps, but it was right when they put the dye in, which is normal. I had a tiny bit of bleeding for 2 days on an off. But I had no blockages or problems...AND I got pregnant with that exact cycle. I felt cramps like 3-4 days after I ovulated, but I think it was because having the HSG and baby going down the tubes...lol anyway, good luck. Hope you get your BFP.
Here are my symptoms that I had right after I ovulated... which was so different from other months.....
(early cramps, like 4dpo...slight dizziness, feeling wiped out, really sore back, kinda felt like I was getting a yeast infection, but got nothing, watery mouth, tin foil taste in my mouth, vivid dreams, extremely hungry)

Thank you all "no pain" ladies haha I am feeling better about it now. I have no idea when AF will start so we are hoping they will have openings when I call CD1. I'm not allowed to get preggo first cycle but hope it could happen soon after!
