C-Section :(

posted 21st Nov
I am sad that I will not be able to go through labor and delivery like my body was designed for. I was shooting for a VBAC but after our anatomy scan on Monday, we found out that our little man has a choroid plexus cyst in/on his brain. We decided it would be in the best interest of our son to plan a c-section so there is no extra pressure/stress on his head. I am soo bummed.

Oh? I think I'd be more bummed and worried about my Son vs how he came into this world. I hope everything goes OK with him.

Well that's why we're doing the c-section, because it's what's best for him. It's DEF not what I wanted to do though

You're not concerned about the CPC and your son?
Just the birth?

Oh OK because it seemed your main focus of this post was being thrown off your birth experience.

Actually, CPCs are generally harmless and usually resolve themselves prior to birth. But way to make her out to be a bad mother because she's disappointed about having to change her birthing plan.

I had a very traumatic emergency c-section with my last pregnancy (story link can be found on my page if you're bored) So I'm just scared to death about doing it over again. The Dr. said the CPC would more than likely go away by 28 weeks but I figured to be safe we would forget the VBAC. Don't wana take the chance of the cyst still being there and rupturing or something.

yea, thats totally what I said.

The way the post was worded, yes it was concern for the birth not the child that was in the OP.

Just found it strange

It's ok...people just read the tone of the message incorrectly. I AM totally 100% bummed about having to go thru another c-section but my youngest daughter actually did have to have brain surgery to remove a cyst when she was one year old so we're PLANNING on worst case scenario and taking all the proper precautions so everyone is safe during delivery.

If you're not due til March, why are you having to make this decision now?

Most cpc's resolve prior to birth and I would think you would have a follow up scan before making this decision

I'm so sorry to hear this. I know it sucks when you have to change your birth plan, but i'm glad to hear you are doing what's best for your baby instead of risking it anyways. I wanted to do a VBA2C this time, but my doc is not for it. She said with my two hernia surgeries, and 2 c-sections, she didn't want us risking it. Sorry to hear about the CPC, but hopefully it will clear up on it's own. I hope everything turns out well for you and baby!!

You don't have to come right out and say something for it to be implied. Also, you weren't the only one I was referring to. If you took the time to actually research what she was talking about, you would understand her seeming lack of concern for the child. When, like she said, she's opting for a C-section even though it's not what she wanted in order to minimize the risks to her child.

I just don't think it was necessary for everybody to jump all over her like that. She has the right to be disappointed.

So anyway...my last c-section was rushed and went terribly terribly wrong in every possible way. Like I said, the story link is on my page if any of you are super bored and want to read it. I just want to know how a PLANNED c-section works. Step-by-step. What's SUPPOSED to happen? Do I HAVE to schedule it or can I wait for him to come on his own? Do I HAVE to be awake or can they knock me out? Can my husband be in the room with me? How do they numb you? How long does the whole procedure take?
