re: Does your LO have a security 'blanket'

Quoting Soon 2B Mom of 2:" Oh my god, that would drive me crazy lol. I hate anyone touching my feet, and I always wear socks ... [snip!] ... (People's houses, doctors office, ect.) I always feel the need to explain myself when anyone sees tigger on a bad day lol."

I'm the same way! I won't even let DH touch my feet. It drove me nuts...as soon as I sat down on the couch, LO would be lying on my feet. He would practically make out with them sometimes. I'm soooo glad he outgrew that...

Lol it's so funny! It usually puts me to sleep now, it's like a massage haha! She only does it at night ( or if she's uncomfortable)

My eldest DS (19 mo) has a blankie ... his 'fuffy'.

He actually has about 8 of them all identical that we rotate.. i always keep one in the car because when he is tired it settles him really well.

He rubs it all over his face, kisses it and feels it.

If it were me he was using i couldnt stand it lol!

I hate being touched etc when im not in the mood.. especially when its hot & having another person climb/lay all over me.

Not trying to scare you OP but my nephew has a hair obsession and he's been diagnosed with Aspergers. He started touching and twirling his mothers hair around a year and a half old. If her hair was in a ponytail, he would pull it out to get his hand in it. He also did it to me all the time (my sister and I both hair long hair). But he wouldn't try it with anyone else. He would get really upset if you tried to stop him. At around 4 he stopped obsessing so much over his mother's hair and started to play with his own. My sister cut his hair short to stop him and since he couldn't twirl it, he started pulling it out in patches. 5 was around the time that he was diagnosed. He has since been put on a very low dose medication to help control the Aspergers and he rarely does it anymore. I'm not suggesting you medicate your child or anything. It may just be a phase that he grows out of.

I just looked it up, Ive always thought something was different about him. He is SO different from my daughter. But he doesnt seem to have any of the symptoms other then speech problems. He is in speech therapy now for it. None of his teachers or doctor have said anything and I voice my concerns alot! Lol This is why he is speech therapy, I kept bugging his doctor about it.

But he is always MAD! Always. He yells, hits, bites, its his way or NO way. I thought its just cause everyone always gives into him. But Ive noticed a few things that dont sit right with me. Ill keep a good eye on him and see how is doing now that I know this. Thanks!

LO has a blanket that he needs to fall asleep, he drags it everywhere in the house. I don't let him take it in stores or outside (unless we are going on a long car ride or hes sleeping over his cousins) he's cool with that.... but all hell breaks loose if you try to put him to sleep without it!

He's 3 and I don't mind the blanket thing...

but if *I* were his "woobie" or safety blanket, I would ween him of it. I never let him do random things like that to me though, so he never made a habit of it. (I hate people playing with my hair... and I'm WAYYY too ticklish to let him go near my feet like the other mama.)

I don't understand....what's wrong with a toddler having a stuffed animal or blanket to soothe with?

Before my son I would snuggle with a stuffed animal...

What's the possible harm?

My sons comfort objects are my boobs...nothing else. Its not too much that it is bothersome tho...at least for me

I bought my DD a "My Pal Violet" for her first birthday. A year later and she won't go anywhere without it. I won't let her take it to the store or in any other place but my parents house(they watch her while I work) She can have her in the car but she stays in the car. I wouldn't be able to handle is she wanted to play with my hair all the time, and I'd probably buy her a doll with hair to try to replace myself

There is nothing wrong with it, but when its ME and I cant even move around the house its kinda frustrating. He is 3, not 1. If he had a blanky, stuffed animal, pillow, anything else I would be fine. But pulling on my hair and freaking out when he cant use it is starting to wear on me. He has to be on top of me every chance he gets. Dont get me wrong, I love that he is attached to me but I dont think we can do this forever. And he JUST started it.

Yeah I was meaning like what's wrong with a baby/ kid having a comfort blanket/ toy ...cuz some pp's were saying they had to take it away...I understand if its YOU and baby is constantly clinging to your hair ect .....but the toy I don't get...how is it harmful to have a comfort object if its just a stuffed animal/ blanket?

Christopher is about to be 3yrs old. He won't leave the house without a blanket (doesn't matter which one though) and he has to bring his "babies" along too.
