"Expectant Mother" Parking Spots

posted 21st Nov
Do you think they are useful? Do you use them when your not pregnant? When do you think a "New Mother" should stop using these spaces? How do you feel when someone who shouldn't be parked there, not a new mom, or pregnant mom, parks there? Does it bother you more when your pregnant than not pregnant?

I know a lot of questions, but I m curious. We only have a few places by me that have these spaces. I loved them while I was pregnant and right after birth. I guess they aren't neccessary but nice to have, and I do get pissed when non-pregnant people park there. Although before I got pregnant, I parked there once or twice.   Karma I guess, lol. Everytime I'd go to walmart while pregnant and all the handicap people who have 100 spaces would be parked in the measly 6 expectant mom spots. I have confronted people about it when I was 8-9 months pregnant, and pissed off lol.

I have a very unpopular opinion about this

Exercise is good for everyone.

I have never seen them but yea it would annoy me for I know it bugs me when people who are not handicap park in handicap parking spots.

I don't really understand why pregnant women think they should be entitled to closer parking spots

We don't have them here anymore, but I always parked in them pregnant or not. Being pregnant isn't a handicap so I really didn't care

The hospital i'm having my son at has Expectant Mother parking, I use it... my hips feel like they are breaking most of the time, I don't see why some of us have to park so far away... when some of us can hardly walk... I have a hard time rolling out of bed or off the couch... I think they need to make something for Expectant Mothers at Wal-Mart... I think new mothers mean while they are recovering.

You make a good point, but if you have sciatica the least amount of walking you can do the better. (Been there) Mine will make me occasionally misstep. I'll be carrying my daughter or whatever, and take a step and my leg doesn't work right and gives out and I fall. Not good.

I'm pretty impartial about them. I only used them at the end of my pregnancy with DS, because my sciatica was so bad it was like playing the lottery as to how long I could walk that day before my leg seized up.
But, mostly I just avoided stores by that point,

I liked them with a newborn. I don't use them when the kid is past 6 months old or so, or if the weather is nice. But if it's 12F outside and snowing... (like it is most of our winter) I want the outside part of the journey to be as short as possible with a baby. I get pissed when I see baby less men park in them just to stay out of the cold.

I think it makes more sense for parking spots when you have small kids/trying to carry a carseat.

I didn't use the spots when I was pregnant. Nor do I use them now.

I agree, however...I did love them for the first couple weeks with my newborn when recovering from a csection. Besides that, I never used them.

I never used it with my first, I was healthy and saw zero reason.

I did use it once with my son because I had to go out and it was right after being put on bed rest & my son trying to come early. I felt all paranoid and stuff, but I felt guilty for using it and never used it again. So, they just weren't something I was comfortable with using. I had two legs that worked just fine.

I don't think they should even have those spaces honestly. Pregnant women aren't disabled. They can walk lol

We have just parent parking spots in th efirst rows beside handicapped spots. Its for anyone who is pregnant or has children. We use them all the time. My mom has a handicapped sticker for the van, (her knees) if there is no room we use the parent parking or vise versa.
