Illegals getting Licenses (Update)

The state of Illinois is trying to pass a law to let illegals get their license. Just wanted others thoughts on this. I have to have a birth certificate to even change my license.

Ok now that I got some thoughts. Here is another question. I was reading comments on this story on another site. Do you think Illinois is passing this law because the hispanic community voted the Democrats back in and they now say "you owe us". Do you consider the votes bought? I am only asking cause thats what many of the comments were about.

At first thought I say I do NOT agree with this at all.

But if you look at the flip side, this gives them incentive to be "legal" on the roads meaning registration, insurance, etc. I am always terrified of being hit by an illegal immigrant because guess what? Smurf falls on MY insurance.

you can get hit by anyone that doesn't have insurance or not enough to cover, though.

how about they start deporting?! that would be an even better idea.

I don't understand why they don't just do the process to become 'legal'. Going along with that, I don't understand why the states would deny someone citizenship when that was what America was for...EVERYONE to come and have freedom, so I think the law should pass.

I personally think that when they go in to get their license, the INS should check their status and deport all the illegals. The only reason I think it's a good idea is because it would make them easier to track and deport.

they should become legal. and america should be able to deny people, especially those that want to come here to get welfare and smurf. they're just putting us even deeper in the hole we're in.

This is where I'm at as well.

They are simply acknowledging that this population is already driving on their roads but without any driver's education. Perhaps a restricted license (restricted because of the difference in appearance) would give enough motivation for them to learn about driver safety?

"the process" is long and costly.

Yes, illegals should not be able to get any privileges that a citizen or a legal immigrant can get.
They need to either work on their green card, get naturalized, or GTFO

We don't have the money or the jobs. Are you going to give up your job for an illegal?

then i guess they don't need to be here, do they? why are there laws and processes in place if it apparently isn't mandatory to follow them anyway?
