Because of antiqued rules it takes a very very very very long time, especially if you are an unskilled worker not in demand.

I live in a state where illegals get licenses, I honestly think its pretty dumb. WHY give then a license if they are illegal? Whats the point, it just makes it easier for them to stay in our country illegally and never even try to become legal.

Sure you can. But that's hit or miss. When it comes to an illegal, they will never have coverage.

Its a hard process.
Just a green card application costs $1,500.

Most illegals I have know tend to work 10 times harder then than lazy americans who complain about them stealing jobs, and sucking off of benefits. And I can name all of 1 times I have seen a hispanic use a independence card at the store, but see whites, and blacks do it on the regular.

The process is very hard and expensive. We will have paid over $10,000 by the time my Husband is a US Citizen. That being said, more people would go the correct route providing it made more sense financially.

It forces them to get car insurance, and makes it easier to track them if they are convicted of a crime. Your car gets totalled and someone has no insurance you are sort of smurfed :-P

Well I don't know anyones legal status but my english teacher let it slip one day in class that the majority of my classmates had illegal parents and I know my classmates parents worked hard. It's not like they can get state assistance to help out right?

That's because illegals can't get benefits. You would see a sharp rise if they could.

All fed programs are denied to them and MOST state programs. But the argument others will use is that they use anchor babies to skirt the rules and get aide.

I don't think it's because they are lazy and can't work though I think there would be a rise because the economy sucks and times are tough.

I doubt it, most of them hold the view that working for your own is a better option.
