pumping before birth. yes or no?

im 38 weeks. getting induced in a week. is it ok if i pump?

just colostrum, which newborns need at first.

I'd just wait until after you deliver.

Pumping will most likely only make your breasts sore and cause you to have Braxton Hicks. Why would you want to pump?

in order to make milk, your placenta needs to detatch from the uterus to make the hormones necissary for lactating..

pumping wont do anything,

Right now you only have colostrum, no milk. All pumping will do is cause braxton hicks and or contractions. Not a good idea without medical supervision as pumping while pregnant can cause violent contractions which are not good for the baby.

I pumped before DD was born because I heard it could help me go into labor - nothing came out and it didn't work, so it was pretty pointless.
