How did your first borns....

posted 21st Nov
Adjust to their siblings when you were pregnant and when the baby was born? I tell my daughter all the time that I am pregnant so she'll touch my stomach and say "baby" . I'm just afraid that she's going to be very jealous when the baby comes in June because she's use to having the spotlight. When my newborn nephew comes around she's very gentle with him and always kisses his head. I'm just hoping she's that caring and gentle when her sibling comes. She is 19 months so she is a HANDFULL!! How did your first born or other children adjust to the newborns?

I told my 2 year old that there were babies in my belly, they were her little brothers, and that I would love them all very very much. I don't know how much she understood, but she would kiss my belly. When we would visit them in the NICU, she wanted to see and touch them. Now she like to kiss and hug them, and to "hold" them (one laid in her lap with plenty of supporting pillows, and an adult right there). She's as gentle as she knows how to be, I have to remind her now and then, but she's never hurt them. Sometimes she even blows kisses to them in their cribs before going to bed.

DS was 2 years 10 months when DD was born. The first month was rough and he was really jealous but now at 9 months they are obsessed with each other lol. He is constantly hugging and kissing her.The only problem is when she goes after his toys then he flips out but were working on that.

My oldest was 5 when I was pregnant with my middle dd. And the whole pregnancy she was fine with her sister being her soon etc...She was 6 when she was born.

After she was born she was thrilled for the first few months, then she grew jealousy over her and began to resent (sp?) her. And they are now 10 and 4 yrs old and my oldest cant stand her 4 yr old sister to this day. She constantly says he hates her wishes she was never born etc....very jealous over her.

My middle dd was 3 when I was pregnant with my now 9.5 month old and oldest was 9 yrs old. They both love the baby, play with her feed her all the time, love doing tons of stuff with her, no jealousy at all for any of them. lol My 4 yr old at first didnt even notice the baby was here till a few months ago, lol she had no interest in her at all. lol

I was worried since my 10 yr old hates her 4 yr old sister. Sure they get a long and play sometimes but its very rare that, that happens. lol

I just hope she grows out of it one day.

Awww that is so cute!!! I really hope my daughter is like this! I'm really afraid but I know by the time this one is born she'll be 2 years old so she'll have a better understanding.

Uh-oh! My daughter likes to share (for now) hopefully she'll stay that way.

i dont thin you can predict it. it'll just depend on the child. like i said i though dd1 would be super jealous, but shes not shes super "mommy". just try to involve baby girl. when my big girl wanted to hold the baby, feed her etc i let her. i use to bf and one time i layed the the little one on top of her saying that sissy wanted to hug her we'll baby girl thought she was bf'n her lol..she loves to do lots of stuff for her sister and i let her. i think the hardest things r dividing your time because there both still little and need you..teach your older daughter to be quiet (i have the loudest kid in the world), and the regression type stuff sometimes my big girl wants to use the babys stuff ie walker bouncer etc and i let her as long as the baby is not in them. she also snatches stuff like her rattles that i have to tell her to share.
