Is something wrong with her eye?

posted 21st Nov
My daughter is one month old, and I've noticed over the last week or 2 that her left eye, and only her left eye, gets really crusty when she sleeps. Like, it's had her eye completely sealed shut before. Is this something I should be worried about?

Sounds like a clogged tear duct...my oldest use to get this all the time when he was a baby! You could always take her to her pedi though to get it checked out..they might give you something or tell you how to help it. Try a warm washcloth and lightly wipe it

I use a warm washcloth/wipe just about every time I wake her up. She has her one month appointment on Monday, so I'll ask her pedi about it because the crust is like a dark yellow color when it's dry.

LOL! I'm sorry..that really made me laugh! I think my aim would be horribly. I wish I was still breastfeeding. I had to stop because I wasn't able to pump enough for daycare for when I started working again..boo

My daughters doctor gave us some sort of medicine (I never used it, the side effects didn't sit right with me) but she also told me to get a warm rag and massage her tear ducts. I think after a few weeks they stopped doing that.

How do you massage the tear ducts? Do you just lightly rub the eye?

Sorry, haven't been on i a few days but not the eye so much as the inside crease. If that makes sense, like kinda where the eye and nose meet.
