Sleeping at night

posted 21st Nov
My baby girl has her days and nights mixed up. During the day she sleeps all day. Night time comes around and she's up all night! She's only 3 days old so I'm assuming this is normal but anyone have any tips to keeping her up during the day? It's so hard because right after she eats she falls into a deep sleep lol

Just keep it bright and interact as much as possible during the day while she is awake. At night keep it dark and quiet. Minimum interaction while changing and feeding. She'll be more alert in a couple weeks but newborns sleep for like 16 hours a day.

This is very normal, as when you're pregnant they tend to sleep while you're up and moving around. It's really hard to keep a newborn awake and I wouldn't recommend it...just let her sleep when she's tired, she'll get flipped around soon!

At three days old isn't she sleeping all day and night? My 2 week old gets up every two hrs and goes right back to sleep regardless of time.

I find she's sleeping for longer stretches during the day rather than at night. During the day when I feed her, she isn't all wide-eyed and alert, but in the evening until night, she is and she sleeps for shorter stretches. Meh I know it's normal for newborns to have their schedule all crazy so I'm not going to try and keep her up during the day because I know she needs to sleep so I will just have to get some more sleep while she's sleeping
