Barking cough
posted 21st Nov
So DD2, at night, will have a deep weird cough. I want to say it sounds like a barking cough, but she never coughs enough for me to be able to get a good listen. The past maybe two or three nights she cough a couple times and I wake up and I'll get a little listen to it but when I try to keep listening she doesn't cough anymore. She's still sleeping well, she coughs so rarely it doesn't bother her in her sleep. She doesn't have a fever or anything and is fine during the day. I was reading about croup because of the barking cough but its so hard to tell and she has no other symptoms. Just a cough maybe? Any thoughts?

Call her pedi tomorrow or an after hours nurse. I would say croup or beginning of croup

croup. If it's not bad, just put LO in a steamy room, or if it's cool where you live, cold air helps. If it gets bad, then I would call the pedi and look into getting some steroids. There's not much they can do for it since it's viral, not bacterial

Waiting for pedi. But also, when she coughs during the day it sounds like a"normal" cough. If it was croup would she be "barking" every time she coughed. Dh says he doesn't think it sounds like barking and I'm overreacting could be true, but I just hate when my babies are so little and sick! So hard to know how they really feel
