Child support.

posted 21st Nov
After almost 15 months. I'm doing it. I'm going after my sons father and making him pay. I am over having to work my ass off and do everything on my own.

So whats the best way to go about this?
Courts?
state?

I'm clueless..

I did it through the state because you contact them once and they do all the 'work' of it for you (finding him/contacting him/etc etc) And it went faster too cos we didn't have to wait for a court date.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you wait 15 months? Did you not want anything to do with him? Most girls I know would of put their child's father on CS as soon as they could lol. I commend you for going that long without his help! Babies are expensive! Good luck!!

Good luck!!

I also went through the state. I don't know if your child's father lives in the same state but mine does and it was easy. Easier to do it through the state. I don't know if it would be different if he doesn't.

I waited until my son was 2.5.. Finally they got the ball rolling after his third birthday. He's a deadbeat still and owes thousands in arrears but I don't regret it at all. He should have to own up to that responsibility too like I did and still do without his help. Go through the state, find your local domestic relations office and file   do it tomorrow if you can.

Yup, call them.
I'm not sure what difference it makes if he's in a different state, or how that works, but they would have answers for you.

With my first, i never went for c/s, so had no clue what to do with my second (though we're together now) but even when he wanted to make an alteration to it, it still took just short of like 7-8 weeks to all be in order. and i didn't have it til around 1 yr-ish either.

Sometimes when it goes through court, it can just be drawn out for months.

Maybe call DFS and see if they can do it through the state?
