Yeah that's kinda what I'm gathering.
So you have to pay for insurance either way?....So how is this helping the poor? Or anyone for that matter?

I don't think it was ever meant to help the poor...or reduce costs.

I can just imagine with my family of 6 :/

Definitely not helping anything. Just more money in their pockets.

Cover pre existing conditions.

It's meant to force everyone to be insured so that people can't run up bills at the ER and have everyone else pay for it. But like I said, the fine is so small that people are just going to drop their insurance and then grab insurance when they need expensive treatments.

Are they going to fine us per person or per married couple/family?

One step closer to Universal Health Care. People will complain that it is too expensive so government will take it over. It won't happen for awhile because there are already several governors telling the president to smurf off.

It is also to drive the evil insurance companies out of business. Obviously that would happen with Universal HC, but the evil insurers have been put on notice that they will die a slow, painful death.

The big picture here is government control as the government knows better.

Please keep in mind that the bill does NOTHING to control costs. It is the escalating costs of care that have caused insurance prices to escalate. But, because many people dont think critically and believe what our president says AND other politicians are easily bribed and pressured, we have a reallly, really bad few years of healthcare to come. Hopefully, we will elect people that will get rid of this program before it's too late.

Oh and, i hope the lower-middle class likes being pushed down to Medicaid.

Oh and I hope all those people whose hours are cut to 29/wk can find a second job to make-up for their shortfall.

Quoting khigh:" If you work over 30 hours, they have to offer you insurance and pay for part of it. You do have ... [snip!] ... not yet told us what these requirements are. Medicare is being cut, so I believe that the requirements are being raised."

You are providing totally misinformation. Medicare isn't being cut. It's cut to insurance companies for procedures that aren't even being done. It helps Medicare by providing seniors with extra money for prescription drugs. Employers will have to provide insurance for workers with over 50 employees. They setup insurance exchanges so they can have reduced rates similar to what big corporations get. Their will be a small fine if they don't participate, because they will be needing medical services in the future and taxpayer have to cover the cost. Individuals will get a tax credit to cover the cost of insurance if they don't have insurance already. If you make over 50,000 then you will pay a fine if you don't have health insurance.
