My husband is sadly mutilated and he said that just because someone made that choice for him does not mean we should make that same choice for our son. He also said if our sone wants it when he is older then we can talk about having it done for him then when he makes that decesion on his own

From what I read in the little research I did, I found that it is believed that the babies do have feeling and a lot of it... that is why they get erections, because of the feeling. Also babies must have an erection for the procedure to be done.

I would love to see a study that suggests this is not true because then I would feel less sad about this being done to babies.

When I posted this I was really hoping to keep it "all in good fun"! with out too much arguing. I really wanted to know if most boys were the same at the Dad or if it did not matter what the Dad's looked like.

I think the poll was interesting,. looks like about half LOs are the same as the Dad but I think we need a much larger sample size to make any conclusions.. Thanks for taking the Poll

I'm honestly baffled by all these statements about all these infections that intact males get and how horrific this is for them and that is why it is a good reason to Circumcise. Honestly what on earth are you people going on about? Like I said we have less than 3% Circumcised in the UK, all other Developed/Western Countries have very low percentages of Circumcision because it is not the norm and I have never ever known any guy to have all these crazy infections you people are rambling on about, I've never known any female members of my family or female friends or myself to have sons that suffer all these infections either. If you guys are suffering from infections it's clearly because there is a serious lack of education on how to simply deal with an intact penis and there must be some kind of messing about that shouldn't be happening. As pointed out our STD rates are a lot lower too aswell as other European countries which are even lower so that "evidence" is clearly nonsense. It is really sad that people would rather put their baby boys through a cosmetic procedure than show them simple hygiene. My Son is 6 years old and has never had an infection of any kind he has also has never had his foreskin retracted to clean all that supposed gunk under there, why? Because at that age the foreskin is still naturally fused so nothing can get under there anyway, you're not supposed to touch it! So if you healthcare proffessionals are being truthful that you are seeing all these young boys with infections caused by there foreskin I really have to wonder what on earth is going on given that nothing should even be going near it.

Oh and just FYI the foreskin will normally not start seperating until a young boy is 3-5 years old but it has only naturally started seperating it is not yet ready to retract, a lot of boys will be able to retract their foreskin 10/11 years old, the majority once they hit puberty and are about 15 years old and some it won't even happen until they are 18! So yes if you are seriously telling me you're getting young boys in before puberty who are experiencing infections due to the foreskin there is something seriously seriously wrong going on considering for the vast majority of males at that stage in their life their foreskin is still attached completely and shouldn't be getting messed with at all! I do remember reading on here recently a woman getting her 3 year old son Circumcised because she couldn't retract his foreskin   Obviously it's a complete lack of education and Mother's thinking they are doing the right thing trying to clean their boys and are unknowingly forcibly retracting foreskin, tearing their child and that is causing the infections and long term problems NOT the actual foreskin.

DH is cut and I let him decide if our son will be. He thought long and hard about it and he has decided that our boy will be circumcised.

My husband and sons are. If I could do it over again, I would not have it done. I thought I was making the right decision at the time but I was admittedly not educated enough on the subject.

your husband has thought long and hard I think that is good, that he looked into it before he made a decision. But I don't understand why you have left the decision up to him.

I think both parents owe it to the children to learn all they can about any procedure they are going to put the child through. I mean this is a suregery. So I don't get why it is only up to one parent.

I am curious why you choose to leave the decesion up to him?

Just because I let him decide doesn't mean I didn't look into it as well. Being on this site you tend to come across a lot of info about circumcision. I've read up on it and I wasn't swayed one way or the other. I could take it or leave it so I left the decision up to DH. Him being a man I figured he would have more of an opinion.

My SO is circumcised and my LO ones too. In fact he got circumcised twice because he didn't have enough of the skin cut off the first time. I'm not sure if I will get it done again with my next son.
