Lump in breast *breastfeeding*
posted 20th Nov
Early on in my pregnancy, I went to my doctor to find out about this lump in my left breast. He diagnosed it as a fibrous mass and said it was unnecessary to remove it until I'm at least 25. The mass didn't cause me any problems during my pregnancy, it didn't rapidly grow throughout my pregnancy or anything. My son was born this past Saturday and I'm exclusively breastfeeding. Any time I offer him my left breast he gets frustrated and any time I try to hand express from this breast I barely get anything and my let down is extremely slow. I wouldn't be so concerned but when I hand express on my right side, I get a good 2-3 oz and my let down is much quicker. Aside from the lump, I'm extremely engorged on the left side. Nursing baby doesn't help, hot towels on my breast doesn't work, standing under warm running water doesn't work and hand expressing barely gets anything done. Is this normal? Could it be the lump causing these problems? What do you ladies think? Please help! I'm probably going to schedule an appointment with my doctor or a lactation consultant soon.
