Items lost in transit

If you purchased clothing from a good friend on Baby Gaga and they got lost in the mail, what would do you think would be the fairest way to handle it?

*note: shipping was international and actually cost the friend more to ship then what you paid*

a. call it even and move on
b. accept a refund
c. donate the money

Keep in mind it's been MONTHS and the so called "good friend" didn't even have the decency to ask if you got the package

I would call it even because you never know if the item will show up. My husband ordered something from China the beginning of October and it just now says it has entered the US according to the tracking number (though EBay said the tracking number is invalid :/ ).

If the shipper has the receipt for shipping it, it isn't their fault it got lost.

Woah that's harsh. But anyways I would call it even since it wasn't her fault it was lost and cost more to ship than what you paid for it. Seems she kind of did you a favor to charge whatever she did when shipping it was more.

I agree with this. If the shipper has te receipt or a tracking i would call it even since it ended up costing more to ship anyway. but if there is no proof of actually sending it friend or not i think a refund is in order

What do YOU feel like you should do?

Personally...if I knew that the person had really sent it, I would not accept the refund considering that they spent more shipping.

BUT do you know that it was indeed shipped?

I used to swap letters and various things with a buddy down under and sometimes it would take FOREVER.

How much money are we talking?

International? What countries?

Donate the money? Huh? Maybe I'm confused, but what money? Person a paid for items they never received but person b claims to have shipped. Why would there be money to donate.

Because one person wants a refund and one person wants to call it even. So donation would be a middle ground.

It would really depend honestly. What was being shipped could it have gotten stuck in customs? I've had something get stuck from china for over 6 months, an my friend whose mother still lives in Poland will send gifts at least 3 months in advanced. And sometimes they are still late.

If they have the receipt that is was shipped then it wasn't their fault. But I am sensing there is more to the story.
