it makes me sad to see mamas who are not educated on proper car seat safety, i have a friend her son isnt even a year old but is 20 pounds, hell be a year in December (im not sure how long he has been in a convertible), and she has him in a forward facing convertible carseat, and she didnt know about ERFing or safety or anything, to each their own choice, but i wish more people were educated about all the options before making that decision.

We had to turn our son at 11 months because he outgrew the carrier and the car we had at the time would not fit a convertible carseat for him to stay rear facing. We have a bigger car now but I still don't think it will be enough room to keep the baby rear facing once he outgrows the carrier. However with both of them I am going to keep them in carseats/booster seats until they reach 4'9" or 8 years old. Or what ever those "magic numbers" are. I know DH will protest that though since his family has kids out of carseat and booster seats by age 3 :/

Agree with you on that. I had friend who didnt know you were suppose to buckle your kid into the high chair and had the lid remove from it. If I hadnt walked in room he'd hit the floor. I was like there are safey belts in it for a reason. Not only that if your going walk out of the room take him with you.

they have a big SUV though. so i understand if you dont have the room, but they do have the room. She is just uneducated about carseat safety.

Some people just don't care too, like my husband's family. I don't think I have ever seen his younger brother in a car seat( I have known him since he was 2) and he is going to be 7 in a few weeks.

I am sure carseat save a lot more kids now then when they had none. My grandma talked about when my mom was born and she just held her on the drive home. Sort of scary but I would love to just hold my baby in my arms on the drive home
