Amish buggy accident...

posted 20th Nov
I can't stop thinking about this since I read it.
I don't know for sure if they had a way for an infant seat in the buggy, or if they had something at all but it sounds like no. This makes me so sad. Plus it sucks tit for tat. Rhetorically speaking, I don't know how the person missed the buggy! You see them quite often up here. I think I saw 3-4 buggys last week. Just sad all around. People need to pay attention when operating a motor vehicle!

An Amish infant was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital following a car-buggy accident in Lewis County Tuesday morning.

Sheriff's deputies say a car collided with an Amish buggy carrying a woman and a child shortly before 8 a.m. on Route 12 in the town of Harrisburg.

The baby was taken by helicopter to Syracuse Medical University for treatment of possible head and internal injuries.

The woman who was driving the buggy suffered a minor leg injury.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Officials said driver inattention on the part of the motorist appears to have caused the accident.

Police say their investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

Aw how sad  However I thought Amish didn't do anything in regards to hospitals? I know they are exempt from the Obamacare tax if you don't have health insurance...

I'm not proficient in how all that works. I think this day in age it is discretionary and some amish will resort to life saving measures in hospitals while I have heard some don't.

They do go to hospitals if it's necessary, they just prefer not to if they can help it.

Maybe.

Either way I hope the best for the baby and that some action is taken against the driver.

I think they just hold the baby since it is probably like older cars that don't have seatbelts so a carseat is a little more pointless than if there are seatbelts...
