Cloth diapers *poll*
posted 20th Nov
For the moms who use cloth, which do you prefer, prefolds or pocket diapers? I kinda wanna go with prefolds just because I can reuse the cover instead of changing the whole thing and it seems cheaper. Also, whats your favorite brand of either one?

Pockets or AIO
I have prefolds and covers but I always end up changing the cover too. Grosses me out reusing it.

I've read good reviews about alva's and they're cheap! The series thing gets me confused on their page though

It's nothing important. Just the different prints/colors

But the covers don't get wet or dirty right?

They get wet. You're suppose to wipe the inside and reuse.

I prefer covers and flats. Cheaper, and trimmer. I do like pockets for out and about, and they're easier for grandma to figure out. But personally, I way prefer covers. For pockets, I prefer Alva's over fuzzibunz. I seriously hate my fuzzibunz and can't wait to get rid of them.

I HATE pockets. Prefer AIO or AI2 diapers bc they are way easier to deal with.
Right now I'm in love with prefolds right now. I loved the Mother Ease system the most because they are like prefolds (but triple the price), but have snaps already built into them, then a separate cover. I like separates. They just seem to last longer and have less leaks.
The only pockets I have liked are Alvababy and Fuzzybunz. But really it just doesn't seem worth thr effort to be stuffing the pockets when you could just get AIOs.
Newborns I use gdiapers because they fit best. not really planning on using hem for an older infant though, they are too much work. I guess those are like pockets? Lol

Mine get wet with cheap prefolds or flats. But Indian Cotton works really well as long as you prep them first, and the covers don't get wet. also had no issues with MotherEase leaking.

I like both. When my daughter was little and for daddy I like pockets. Snaps for kids over 6 months and velcro for the under 6 month. My daughter is a toddler now and I mostly use pre-folds and covers. I wish I would have tried these sooner. I have the flip and bububibib. I like the flip better because it has the double flap to hold the prefold or insert and the bububibi only has the back flap. But the bububibi will fit my daughter longer I think. She's a big girl.
this time around I have both kinds. I figured if the cheaper pre-folds work on my toddler ( it hella easy to even put it on like diaper and use a snappi when needed) then I can do it on a less wiggly newborn. I do not use gerber pre-folds. those things are CRAP! I get mine from cotton babies or green mountain diapers.
If your starting cloth on a newborn I would get sized. My OS ( one size) were way too big for my daughter when she was new. She could wear them for 2-3 months.
