Cow's milk

posted 20th Nov
Repost- didn't get info.

I've been thinking about this for awhile.
So I know kids "need" whole milk for brain development after a certain age (1?). What if you don't want them to have cow's milk though?? Does almond/soy milk have the fattyness that they need??
Someone said nuts, but they can't have nuts till 2 right??
Will breastmilk be enough if I still give her yogurt and other dairy?? (She's only 7 months so obviously won't be doing this for awhile). Do multivitamins give her enough?? I also still take prenatals and will continue to do so till I stop bf'ing.

What about goat milk? Or get organic cow milk. At least that doesn't have growth hormones.

It is the fatty acids that is important. Obviously, some parents don't want their children to have milk, so they do thinks like soy or almond milk. I didn't do that personally, but I know it has been done with other mothers.
Multivitamins don't have the fatty acids in it that milk does.
I would just continue the breastmilk, tons of moms breastfeed for years.

I didn't think about that. The hormones and stuff are what I don't want her to have.

Dumb question- is organic milk still pasteurized??

Goat milk has been related to teeth issues, I wouldn't go that route.

But is breastmilk enough??
Does it have enough fatty acids?

We thought our oldest had issues with cow milk (turns out it is from beans, go figure). So we did almond milk and lactaid so that he could get all the fats and stuff.

However if you do not want to give cow milk, do not give soy because there is a hormone(Geinstein/ phytoestrogen) in it that can cause issues with developing children.

Here is just one link from a quick search. There are plenty more. http://www.healthmasters.com/blog/does-soy-turn-little-boys-little-girls-shocking-truth

Yes, if you are adhering to a well balanced diet.
And I would personally wean off of the multivitamins. Once you stop breastfeeding, your child's body will be so used to the multivitamins that she might get sick from a lack in deficiency once stopping the breast milk.

If your diet is healthy, lots of veggies, fruits, etc, there is no need for vitamins.
People really abuse vitamins and it does more harm than good. I wouldn't stop vitamins cold turkey, but wean. Because once you stop breastfeeding, your daughter will not have the vitamins, cold turkey and it will be a shock to her system.

A lot of babies have issues after birth from shock of getting prenatal vitamins in the womb and none afterwards.

All I am saying, is I would do some research on vitamins, and make your own opinion on it.
