Sweep membrane

posted 20th Nov
I'm 39.2 wks today and I had my membrane stripped/swept. I been 2cm dialated and she didn't tell me today but last week I was at 50% effaced, and baby is at neutral (whatever that means...I'm assuming at 0 station)said she could even feel my sac of water when she was sweeping me. Anyways I was wondering did sweeping of the membrane help u go into labor?

Yes, that is a natural way to induce labor so to speak. Meaning this helps you to naturally go into labor so they don't actually have to use the hormone to induce you. With my first child I made it up to the day before my due date and went in for my last dr. appointment and they stripped my membranes and said if I didn't deliver her by that Monday (they stripped them on Friday) they would induce me with the hormone Monday morning at a scheduled time. I started contracting three hours after they stripped my membranes and delivered my daughter Sunday evening.

I had sex just to get my contractions five minutes apart so I could go to the hospital because I was in so much pain by Saturday night after having my membranes stripped Friday afternoon and I started contracting soon after and I didn't sleep at all Friday night and was extremely uncomfortable. So I had sex to help get those contractions closer together and it worked like a charm.

as soon as we left the hospital after my appointment we went to the PX and walked around til the contractions got stronger.. then I went home to time them.

scrapping your membrane doesnt make you go into labour right away its used to ensure you dont go over due but everyone ive knwn to have it done it has done nothing.

I wanted to walk but it's raining out, no trademil at home. I was wondering if I could have sex, but it hurts down there I'm definitely not in the mood but I may just suck it up and do it if I can convince hubby cause he freaks out thinking its open. I tried dancing but I couldn't last long. I hope she comes soon and put me out of this early labor for weeks agony thing that my body likes to tease me with.
